Glaze Kits include your chosen bisque piece, glazes and a second firing. Brushes can be added for an additional $3.
Glaze Kits are dropped off at your house, picked up from Glaze studio, or shipped. After you complete your piece, bring it back to the Glaze studio for the final firing. When the firing is completed, you will receive a text or email to arrange final drop-off or pickup. Glaze Kits are ideal for folks who live in the Ann Arbor area or for people who have access to a kiln.
OUR GLAZES
We carry only the highest quality glazes. Most of our glazes are non-toxic, though some have a small amount of toxicity before they are fired. These glazes are labled and should not be used by small children who might try to put it in their mouths. A few glazes are not safe to be used for eating and drinking. These are also labeled. Glazes that contain crystals are non-toxic (unless otherwise noted) but do not fire to a smooth surface. We therefore recommend not to use glazes with crystal for the area of a piece that would be used for eating or drinking because bacteria could collect in grooves.
QUALITY BISQUE
Glaze offers a huge variety of locally made bisque pieces for sale. Bisque are pieces made from clay or slip that have been fired in the kiln. Bisque can be painted with glaze and refired to create a durable glassy surface that can hold water and, with a few exceptions, used for eating and drinking. Bisque can also be painted with acrylic paints and used decoratively.
